DTF Studio FAQ
Everything you need to know about Printasy DTF Studio tools, credit consumption, and RIP software compatibility.
How do DTF Studio credits work and when are they deducted?
Nesting logos onto gangsheets, testing TrueNest packaging algorithms, adjusting ChokeShield white underbase insets, and previewing layouts in your browser is 100% free and unlimited. Credits are only deducted when you perform a final production export (e.g. downloading the high-res layered 300 DPI gangsheet TIFF or production PDF). Credit consumption varies depending on tool parameters and export complexity.
Can I use DTF Studio credits for UV Studio or ScreenSeparations?
No. Subscriptions and credits are dedicated specifically to Printasy DTF Studio tools. To use Printasy UV Studio or ScreenSeparations, a separate subscription is required.
How much PET film does TrueNest™ typically save?
Most manual Illustrator or Photoshop gangsheet layouts achieve between 65% and 78% film utilization. TrueNest automatically rotates, nests convex hulls, and packs into micro-gaps to consistently achieve 92% to 98% film coverage, cutting monthly PET film and powder costs by 20% to 35%.
Which DTF printers and RIP software are supported?
Printasy DTF Studio generates universal standard 300 DPI RGB or CMYK files with dedicated Spot 1 White underbase channels. Compatible out-of-the-box with CADlink Digital Factory, AcroRIP, Maintop, Photoprint, Caldera, and Onyx.
What happens if our shop runs out of credits during peak season?
You can instantly purchase top-up bundles in packs of 100 credits directly from your dashboard at discounted rates (€10, €5, €3.50, or €2.50 per 100 pack depending on your tier).
Are my client apparel files stored on your servers?
No. File processing, image rotating, underbase generation, and roll nesting calculations run locally in your browser using high-performance WebAssembly. Your client files stay private on your workstation.
How does TrueNest™ compare to manual gangsheet nesting?
TrueNest™ utilizes polygon convex hull calculations to nest irregular shapes into the empty negative spaces of larger designs (e.g. placing neck labels and pocket crests inside the arc of arched letters). Manual layouts in Illustrator usually leave 20-35% of film empty and take 15 to 45 minutes per gangsheet. TrueNest completes packing in 4 seconds with 96%+ efficiency.
How does ChokeShield™ prevent white ink from showing along the edges of my print?
Direct-to-Film printers deposit a heavy layer of white ink behind color inks. Due to mechanical printer head alignment drift or ink spreading on film before gelation, white ink often peeks out from under dark outlines. ChokeShield™ mathematically pulls the white underbase boundary inward by a configurable 1-3 pixels (0.08mm to 0.25mm), creating a safe perimeter buffer.
Can I export cut marks for Summa, Graphtec, or Secabo plotters?
Yes. DTF Gangsheet Studio Pro automatically generates optical registration marks (OPOS, ARMS) and barcode identifiers compatible with Summa S-Class, Graphtec FC9000, Secabo, and flatbed cutters.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan during a subscription period?
Yes. You can switch between Starter, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans at any time. Unused credits rollover within active billing periods, and top-up 100-packs are immediately available whenever you need extra capacity.
